1:05Ordering a Tesla in the US now? Model 3 and Model Y deliveries slip into 2027
Tesla's US configurator shows no 2026 delivery slots left for the Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, and Model Y waits now stretch to January. Here are the current prices and estimates.
If you order a Model 3 or Model Y in the United States today, you will most likely not get it this year. Tesla's online configurator now shows estimated delivery windows that run into 2027 for several versions.
Current US estimates for new orders
- Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive ($36,990): January to March 2027. No 2026 slots remain.
- Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive ($39,990): December 2026 to January 2027.
- Model Y All-Wheel Drive ($41,990): December 2026 to January 2027.
- Model Y L Premium AWD Launch Series ($61,990): January to February 2027.
Estimated purchase prices including fees are roughly $1,640 higher than the list prices above.
Why the wait?
Tesla has not explained the longer waits. They come despite earlier price increases on the Model Y and lower lease prices introduced at the end of 2025. Longer delivery windows can mean strong demand, careful inventory control, production changes, or a combination of these.
What it means for buyers
If you need a car this year, look at Tesla's existing inventory, which can deliver much faster than a custom order. If you are flexible, ordering now locks in today's price. Keep in mind that estimated windows can move in either direction.
The bigger picture
Waits stretching into 2027 are a notable change after a period when Tesla relied on discounts to move cars. Whether it reflects demand or supply will become clearer when Tesla reports its third-quarter deliveries in early October.
