0:59Croatia approves Tesla FSD, but the EU-wide vote slips to December at the earliest
FSD (Supervised) is now approved in eight European countries. The bloc-wide decision that many expected in October is now not expected before December.
Tesla Europe announced on September 29 that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) has been approved in Croatia. That makes it the eighth country in Europe to allow the system, after the Netherlands, Belgium, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Slovenia and Czechia.
The setback: no EU vote in October
The bigger news is less positive for Tesla fans. An EU-wide vote on FSD, which had been expected in October, is now not expected before December. Until that happens, approvals continue country by country, each national regulator recognizing the original Dutch approval on its own schedule.
Rollout in Croatia
Tesla said the rollout in Croatia will begin soon, without giving a date. In earlier countries, owners received the software through an over-the-air update some time after the formal approval.
Where FSD (Supervised) is live worldwide
- North America: United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico.
- Europe: Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia, Czechia, Croatia.
- Asia-Pacific: China (limited rollout), South Korea, Australia, New Zealand.
Why it matters
The eight European countries approved so far are mostly smaller markets. The big Tesla markets in Europe, such as Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Norway (which is outside the EU), are not on the list yet. An EU-wide decision would change that in one step, which is why the delay matters more than any single new country.
