1:09Tesla update 2026.38: smarter headlights, Supercharger site maps and Grok out of beta
Tesla's latest software update brings adaptive headlight leveling, a live map of selected Supercharger sites and better visuals. Here is what is new and which cars get it.
Tesla started rolling out software update 2026.38 on September 30. It is not a huge release, but it has a few features owners will notice in daily driving.
Dynamic headlight leveling
The low beams now adjust their aim automatically based on driving conditions and nearby traffic. The goal is better visibility for you and less glare for oncoming drivers. It is available worldwide on specific vehicles, including the Model 3 and Cybertruck.
Supercharger site maps
At selected Supercharger locations you can now tap 'View Site Map' to see a detailed layout of the site. When you arrive at one of the pilot locations, the map also shows live occupancy, so you can see which stalls are free before you pull in. It is available worldwide, but only at the pilot sites for now.
Better visuals
The image of your car on the center screen is sharper, and the park scene around it has been improved. This applies to the Model 3 and Model Y with the AMD-based computer.
Grok is no longer in beta
Not listed as a feature, but noticeable: the beta label has been removed from Grok, the AI assistant built into the car.
Security fixes
As usual, the update includes security improvements for all supported models.
When do you get it?
Tesla rolls updates out in waves, starting with a small group of cars and expanding over days or weeks. Your car will show a notification when the update is ready. Connecting to Wi-Fi at home usually speeds things up.
