Model 3 Standard and Model Y Standard in Europe: the cheapest Teslas explained

Models · October 21, 2026

The Standard versions of the Model 3 and Model Y have replaced the old entry-level trims in Europe. Here is what they cost, how far they go and what you give up.

For a while, Tesla's European lineup has included a cheaper 'Standard' version of both the Model 3 and the Model Y. They have become the entry point to the brand, and they play a big part in Tesla's sales recovery in Europe. Here is what you need to know if you are considering one.

Model 3 Standard

  • Price: from €36,990 in Germany, the Netherlands and other key European markets.
  • Range: up to 534 km WLTP.
  • Roof: keeps the panoramic glass roof.
  • Built in: Giga Shanghai.
  • Replaces: the previous base Rear-Wheel Drive version.

Model Y Standard

  • Price (UK): from £41,990, about £3,000 less than the version it replaced.
  • Range: up to 505 km WLTP.
  • Roof: the glass roof is covered on the inside.

Prices differ by country; check Tesla's configurator for your market.

What you give up

To reach the lower price, Tesla trimmed some equipment compared with the Premium versions. The Model Y Standard's covered glass roof is the most visible difference. The Standard versions also come with fewer customization options. The exact list of removed features varies by model and market, so compare the 'Standard' and 'Premium' columns in the configurator before you order.

Who it suits

If you mainly drive commutes and the occasional longer trip, the Standard versions offer the core Tesla experience: the same software, Supercharger access and over-the-air updates, for less money. If you often drive long distances, carry a family or care about extra comfort, the Premium versions are worth the comparison.

For accessories, check the version

Because the Standard versions differ in details from the Premium cars, not every accessory automatically fits. When buying things like roof shades, interior trim or screen protectors, check that the product explicitly supports the Standard version of your car.

Why it matters

The Standard versions have helped bring Tesla back to the top of European sales charts in 2026, from Germany to the Nordic countries. They show Tesla competing on price again, against a fast-growing field of Chinese and European EVs.
