A Boring Company tunnel for Morgan's Wonderland: Prufrock-5 arrives in San Antonio

Boring Co. · October 23, 2026

A 900,000-pound tunnel boring machine is waiting at an inclusive theme park campus in San Antonio. What the project is, who pays, and what still needs approval.

The Boring Company's next tunnel in Texas will not connect an airport or a convention centre, but parts of a theme park campus built for people with disabilities. Its Prufrock-5 machine arrived at Morgan's Inclusion Campus in San Antonio on October 14, 2026, and is waiting for final approval to start digging.

The project

  • Location: Morgan's Inclusion Campus, a 300-acre site that includes Morgan's Wonderland, an ultra-accessible theme park, a multi-assistance centre and a hotel under construction.
  • The tunnel: almost a mile long, linking parts of the campus so visitors can move between them more easily.
  • The machine: Prufrock-5, weighing about 900,000 pounds (roughly 410 tonnes).
  • Cost: according to Morgan's, The Boring Company is building the tunnel at no cost to the nonprofit.

How it was chosen

The campus was picked from nearly 500 entries in The Boring Company's Tunnel Vision Challenge, a competition in which organisations could propose a tunnel project.

What still needs to happen

Digging has not started and no groundbreaking date has been announced. Crews are waiting for final approval. Texas' environmental agency and transport department said they needed more time to answer questions about the project. The local school district does not expect effects on its nearby stadium and will share its event schedule to limit disruption.

It would be the first Boring Company tunnel in Bexar County. An earlier idea to link San Antonio's airport with downtown is, according to county officials, essentially dead.

The Tesla link

The Boring Company's Loop systems use Tesla vehicles, and its underground work trucks run on Tesla batteries and drive units. How passengers will travel through this campus tunnel has not been detailed yet. Projects like this one also show what Prufrock can do in a smaller setting: the machine launches straight from the surface, without the large pits traditional tunnelling needs.

What to watch

The final permits and a start date, how fast Prufrock-5 digs once it starts, and which vehicles will run through the finished tunnel.
